The Platypus has a break-in period of approximately 100 rounds. During this time, the components will wear in and the firearm will reach optimal performance. We recommend cleaning and lubricating your firearm after the first 100 rounds, then following the regular maintenance schedule outlined in our Maintenance Guide.

Cerakote will send up to 10 free swatches of your choosing. All you need to do is pay for shipping, which is between $10 - $15. Make sure to only select Cerakote colors that Stealth Arms offers.

The Platypus® maintains the 1911 grip angle of 17.5 degrees. This is true for both the Glock mag compatible and Sig P320 compatible versions.

Yes!

Maybe, but we cannot guarantee compatibility. The internal geometry of the safety is the same as a standard 1911 Thumb Safety. However, the lever and outside shape of the safety may interfere with the frame.

The Platypus® does not fit holsters made for the Springfield DS Prodigy™ or the Staccato 2011®. The profile of the Platypus® is the same as a standard 1911 from the slide stop forward. At this time, we are unable to guarantee compatibility with specific holsters, but we are working with holster companies to get that information ASAP.

We typically send guns out with a trigger pull around 4.0lb. Using a firearm with a pull weight under 3.0lb can be dangerous, but if you know what you are doing, you can request a lower trigger weight for your order.

The Platypus® has been tested and will work with OEM Gen 3, Gen 4, and Gen 5 Glock® mags. It has also been tested with aftermarket mags from KCI and Magpul.

The following Platypus® parts have design changes and standard 1911/2011 parts are NOT compatible:

Yes. You have one week to make changes to your order without a change fee. After one week, a $50 order change fee will apply. Some changes may also include upgrade costs.

If you'd like to make a change, please contact us through our Contact Us page as soon as possible. Keep in mind that order changes may extend your lead time.

If manufacturing has already begun (e.g., your slide or frame has been made), the order change fee increases to $100. Once your order has been painted, no changes can be made.

No. Transfer fees will depend on the dealer but they are typically around $20-$50, paid on receipt.

Yes, custom serial numbers can be added to custom guns for an additional fee. While we love to see your unique and creative ideas, we reserve the right to refuse to engrave any custom text that we deem inappropriate or offensive, as determined in our sole discretion.

The best sight height largely depends on your personal preference and how out of the way you want your co-witness to be.

• For Leupold DeltaPoint Pro co-witness, high sights are recommended, as standard sights are obscured.
• Short sights suit smaller windowed optics like Trijicon RMRcc and Holosun 407k & 507k.
• Standard sights work well for most optics, including Trijicon's RMR & SRO, and Aimpoint's Acro.

No, the optic cut is milled directly into the slide.
